Amara Gilbert

Amara Gilbert is the progenitor of Elena Gilbert's Doppelganger line. She is the true love of Silas.

Amara took Elena's last name, claiming to be her long lost twin sister when they were both seen together accidentally at the Mystic Grill.

Early Life

Amara was Qetsiyah's best friend 2000 years ago, however, she fell in love with Qetsiyah's fiance and was made immortal by him. Silas and Amara were captured by Qetsiyah. Silas believed Qetsiyah cured and killed Amara.

Amara was frozen in time and made the Anchor to The Other Side.

The Vampire Diaries (Taylor Manton's)

Season 5

Amara was found by Silas in 2000 Years Apart and brought back to Mystic Falls. She was released of her time-frozen state. Amara, being the Anchor to The Other Side, felt the death of every Supernatural Creature over 2000 years at once. She is left screaming in pain for the next two weeks. Amara passes Silas through to The Other Side, revealing that she no longer feels pain. She lets Qetsiyah pass back onto this side of the veil.

Amara attacks April Young and kills her with vampire blood in her system. Amara uses her psychic powers to try to destroy Qetsiyah's mind and to save the others. She is seen with Elena and passes off that she is her long lost twin sister.

Amara helps to defeat Nadia and Katherine.
